Steel & Glass Wine Room Doors

Steel & Glass Wine Room Doors

A wine collection deserves more than a cupboard and a lock. Whether you're converting an under-stairs space, a basement cellar, or a dedicated room, a steel and glass door from RK Steel transforms your wine storage into a feature — one that protects your collection as beautifully as it displays it.

Our wine room doors are handmade, fully bespoke to your space, and engineered with the specific requirements of climate-controlled storage in mind. From a single hinged door to a full glass and steel enclosure with fixed screens, we'll help you create a wine room that's as impressive from the outside as it is functional on the inside.

Why Steel and Glass for a Wine Room?

Why Steel and Glass for a Wine Room?

Show off your collection
Glass panels let your bottles become part of the room. A well-lit wine room behind a steel and glass door is a statement feature in any home.

Keep conditions consistent
Our drop-down bottom seal creates a tight barrier when the door is closed, helping to maintain the stable temperatures your wine needs. Unlike timber or composite doors, steel won't warp, swell, or shrink with seasonal changes in humidity — so the seal stays effective year after year.

Built to last
A handmade steel door from RK Steel is a permanent fixture, not a replacement item. With our 10-year limited warranty on powder coating and glass, it's a long-term investment in your home.

Design Options

Design Options

Your wine room door should feel like it belongs in your home — whether that's a sleek, contemporary all-black installation or something with a warmer, more characterful finish.

Colours
Choose from the full RAL colour palette, or select from our Farrow & Ball and Little Greene collections for a finish that matches your interior scheme precisely.

Elite Metal Finishes
For a more distinctive look, our Elite Metal finishes — antique bronze, smooth copper, and brushed brass — add warmth and character that powder coat alone can't replicate. These finishes work particularly well in traditional or period properties where a full matt black might feel too industrial.

Glass
Clear or Satinato glass is supplied as standard or select from a choice of patterned obscure glazing for an added design feature. Fire rated glass also available.

Hardware
Choose from our full range of handles. Brass and bronze hardware options complement our Elite Metal finishes particularly well in wine room applications.

Features Designed for Wine Storage

Features Designed for Wine Storage

Drop-Down Bottom Seal
Our innovative drop-down seal lowers automatically when the door closes, creating a tight contact with the floor threshold. This helps maintain the climate-controlled environment of your wine room without requiring you to fit a fixed threshold that creates a trip hazard. It's a detail that makes a real difference in temperature retention.

Optional Double Glazing
For serious wine storage where temperature consistency is critical, we offer optional double glazing on wine room doors and screens.

Bespoke to Your Space
No two wine rooms are the same. We manufacture every door and screen to your exact measurements, whether you're working with a compact under-stairs alcove or a full basement cellar with a ceiling height of several metres. There are no standard sizes — everything is made to order.

Doors and Fixed Screens
A wine room enclosure often requires more than just a door. We can combine hinged or pivot doors with fixed glass and steel side panels and over-panels to create a complete, fully sealed enclosure. The result is a seamless wall of steel and glass that defines the space entirely.

Wine Store Doors FAQs

Wine Store Doors FAQs

Feel free to get in touch if you still have more questions.

Do I need planning permission for a wine room door?

In most cases, no. Internal doors do not require planning permission. If your wine room involves structural work or is part of a listed building, your architect or builder will advise on any requirements.

Will a steel door help with temperature control?

Steel itself is a good conductor of heat, which is why our drop-down seal and optional double glazing are important for climate-controlled applications. For serious collectors, we recommend combining a double-glazed door with an appropriate cooling unit inside the space for consistent results.

Can you fit door and fixed screen combinations?

Yes — this is one of our most popular wine room configurations. A hinged or pivot door flanked by fixed glass and steel screens creates a fully enclosed space with maximum visual impact.

What finish should I choose for a wine room?

Matt Black is the most popular choice as it provides strong visual contrast and suits both modern and traditional settings. For a warmer feel, our Antique Bronze Elite Metal finish is an excellent option, particularly in homes with traditional interiors or oak cabinetry.

Do you offer fire doors for wine rooms?

Yes, RK Steel’s steel and glass FD30 fire doors combine elegant design with reassuring fire performance, offering a refined alternative to more traditional internal fire doors.

Available in both our standard and ultra-slim Fireline Slim systems, each design is made bespoke to order and crafted to suit high-end interior spaces where light, proportion and detail matter. With a range of configurations, colours, metallic finishes and handle options available, our internal fire-rated doors are designed to deliver safety, flexibility and beautifully considered steel-framed style.

Do you install as well as supply?

Yes. We offer supply-only and full supply with installation across the UK. Contact your nearest showroom to discuss your project.

How long is your warranty?
